Principal Engineer Job in Yahoo

Responsibilities include:
* Design and enhance features in the search engine and applications related to it
* Participate in the design and development of the next-generation platform for search
* Design and develop services which provide the web search data and components for use by other Yahoo applications and external users.
* Drive projects from design to deployment and support

Skills

Experience: 7+ years

Minimum Job Qualifications:
* B.E./B.Tech CS or equivalent required
* 4+ years industry experience with Java.
* 4+ years industry experience with Oracle Database applications. Should have done application programming on top of Oracle databases, and experience in schema design, scripting interfaces to databases.
* Experience with PHP is a bonus.
* Must have a strong knowledge of scripting languages, e.g. Python/Perl/Tcl.
* Ability and experience to technically drive the full life cycle of large projects: design, implementation, testing, shipping and maintenance.
* Strong in algorithms, data structures, networking.
* Experience in building large-scale, complex, reliable systems or applications.
* Strong programming background. Multi-threading, distributed computing, performance analysis and optimization experience highly desirable.
* Good verbal and written communication. Strong teamwork skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
* MS/PhD in CS preferred
* Web-based application development experience, both in server side and front-end programming.
