B.Tech/BE/MCA/MS
Required Skills / Mandatory skills
· This position requires a dedicated individual who can work well in a team environment.
· The candidate should have a B.S. in Computer Science (or related area of study) and 6-8 years of experience.
· Effective oral and written communication skills are a must.
· Experience with Unix administrative tasks is required.
· The candidate must have demonstrated experience with Unix shell (bash) scripting and Perl.
· The candidate must be able to demonstrate skill in trouble-shooting techniques and problem diagnosis and resolution.
Desired skills
· Exposure to large-scale production environments is a plus.
· Knowledge of developer tools like Bugzilla, CVS, SVN is a plus.
· Knowledge/experience with monitoring tools like Nagios is a big plus.
Role and responsibilities
This position will be part of the Service Engineering team that manages, mantains and supports production systems
o Reponsible for 24x7x365 uptime/availabiltiy of critical systems/applications.
o Utilize strong analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose/resolve system and application issues.
o Drive incident and problem management activities.
o Collaborate with cross-functional organizations (engineering, qa, noc, site operations)
o Document processes, systems, and their associated configurations
o Hardware capacity planning, provisioning and deploying of new resources.
o Participate in change and release management activities
o Participate in a group pager rotation for weekly oncall duties, emergencies and act as 1st level of escalation.
o The above responsibilities will require the need to work independently and make decisions without direct supervision within a dynamic environment.
